How to remove your data from MegaData Marketing BV

Step 1 — Gather your identifiers

Before you write, list every identifier MegaData might have. Old email aliases, secondary phone numbers, and previous addresses all count. Brokers commonly refuse requests by claiming they cannot locate the record — supplying more identifiers removes that excuse.

Step 2 — Send the erasure request

Email privacy@megadata.nl with the subject line GDPR Article 17 — Request for Erasure. Use the template below — copy, fill in the bracketed fields, and send.

To the Data Protection Officer,

Under Article 17 of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679), I request the erasure of all personal data MegaData Marketing BV holds about me, including but not limited to data obtained from third-party data brokers, public records, and tracking cookies.

The personal identifiers I want erased:

Please respond within one (1) calendar month as required by Article 12(3) GDPR. If you require additional verification, contact me at this email address only — do not request additional documents beyond what is strictly necessary.

Step 3 — Track the 30-day countdown

Article 12(3) GDPR gives MegaData one calendar month to respond. Log the date you sent the request. If you don't hear back, send a one-line follow-up on day 25: "This is a reminder of my GDPR Article 17 request dated [DATE]. The statutory deadline expires on [DEADLINE]."

Step 4 — Escalate if ignored

If the deadline passes with no confirmation — or MegaData refuses — file a complaint with the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, the Dutch Data Protection Authority. Complaints are free and the AP regularly fines non-compliant brokers.

Who is MegaData Marketing BV and why do they have my data?

MegaData Marketing BV is a Dutch data broker that aggregates personal data from public records, third-party brokers, and tracking cookies, then resells it to marketers. You usually end up in their file without ever interacting with them directly.

Do I need a Dutch address to file a GDPR erasure request?

No. The GDPR applies whenever an EU/EEA-established company processes personal data, regardless of where the data subject lives. Anyone in the world can send an Article 17 erasure request to MegaData Marketing BV.

Will MegaData ask for ID before deleting my record?

They may request limited verification, but Article 12(6) GDPR only allows 'reasonable' measures. Decline to send a passport or ID scan; offer to confirm via the email address that received their marketing, which is normally enough.

How long does the process usually take?

What if the company ignores my request or refuses?

Send one written follow-up referencing the original date, then file a complaint with your national data-protection authority — the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens in the Netherlands, the ICO in the UK, the CNIL in France, or your state attorney general in the US. Complaints are free and regulators do act on patterns.

Does Privzr store the personal data I submit?
